Hematite - Hematine

We refer to a lot of our pieces as being made of Hematite, when in fact, they are made with a synthetic equivalent of Hematite - Hematine, which is much easier to produce in a great variety of shapes, and is much more affordable. This very shiny, gray to dark gray, almost metal appearance, goes well with silver, and has held a popular appeal to many.
Hematine is virtually identical to Hematite.

Hematite (metallic grey color): Energizes and revitalizes you. It attunes the mind and positively effects the bloodstream. (This is a common belief of what Hematite does among the Navajo we are affiliated with.)
Hematite: As far back as ancient Egypt, Hematite was used to reduce inflammation and treat hysteria. In his NATURALIS HISTORIA, the Roman writer Pliny cites Hematite as a powerful talisman that could obtain a favorable response to petitions when the wearer appeared before the king. The stone also procured the positive outcome of lawsuits and judgments. In modern folklore, Hematite is considered a grounding stone, helping to maintain the proper balance of mind, body and spirit.
