Lapis Lazuli: Lapis Lazuli is called the ancient Alchemists' "Stone of Heaven." It is said to bestow upon the wearer the gift of strength, self-assurance, and increased sensitivity to higher vibrations.
The special mystical quality associated with Lapis made it sacred to the Egyptians. For a time only the pharaohs, the royal family members, and the priests were permitted to wear it. Accordingly, Egyptian tombs were replete with carvings of Lapis, for it was believed that this stone would protect, guide and cheer the dead as they journeyed into the afterlife.
An ancient legend tells of an eye, fashioned out of Lapis Lazuli and gold, and incribed with the 140th chapter of the Egyptian Book of the Dead. We are told that on the last day of the month, an offering was made to the god Ra before this symbolic spiritual eye, for on that same day, it was believed, the god placed the Lapis amulet upon his own head.
Another tradition states that the ten commandments which Moses gave the people were carved on two blocks of Lapis Lazuli. This stone was also highly prized in China, where sacred writings reveal its use in offerings made to the Lord of the Universe.
